As the founder of Artepreneur, I work within the cultural sector with a global reach, fostering intellectual diversity through various projects. Many of these initiatives are connected to sustainability causes, reflecting our commitment to generating a positive impact on the environment through conscious and responsible actions.
Sustainability has always been at the core of my professional principles. During my tenure as the gallery director of Badr El Jundi (2020-2024), I played a key role in integrating sustainability into the gallery’s operations. I was also part of the founding group of Gallery Climate Coalition Spain (GCC Spain), reinforcing my commitment to environmental responsibility within the art sector.
Even though the gallery was a small company with a relatively low environmental impact, we remained dedicated to minimizing waste, optimizing energy efficiency, and implementing recycling measures whenever possible. Our objective was to align with the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC) guidelines and the broader arts sector targets to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 (Agenda 2030). The gallery shifted into a Foundation where I am contributing too, leading the international projects.
Now, as the leader of Artepreneur, I actively seek partners who uphold sustainable practices, exercise accountability in their operations, and align with the collective responsibility we share as inhabitants of this planet.
By collaborating with businesses, cultural institutions, and community leaders, we aim to create a cleaner, fair and more sustainable sector.
To ensure that I uphold these commitments, I will:
- Schedule monthly reviews to assess the progress of Artepreneur’s sustainability strategy, objectives, and performance.
- Explore and implement alternatives to reduce local transportation emissions, prioritizing sustainable mobility solutions (shifting all national travel from flights to trains whenever feasible and incorporate this practice into international travel planning).
- Engage in conversations with suppliers and service providers regarding their carbon footprint and seek opportunities to encourage sustainable practices or transition to eco-conscious partners.
- Collaborate with fellow GCC members on projects aimed at developing more sustainable packaging, transportation, and energy solutions for the art sector.
- Regularly calculate Artepreneur’s carbon footprint to monitor and enhance our sustainability efforts.
Looking ahead to 2025, I am eager to witness the tangible outcomes of these initiatives and track our progress in reducing our carbon footprint. Our results will be submitted to the GCC website, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability within the cultural sector.
