“Emerging Artists vs. Contemporary Art Market” is part of the Public Programme of Poppositions Art Fair in Brussels.
The duality between artists and the market is a matter that worries the art world following the current situation for emerging artists. Art Galleries, Project Spaces and Art Centres have long served as critical intermediaries in the making of the art world. Nowadays, a big question mark predicts our future: renowned galleries shutting down and art fairs trying to restructure themselves innovating with the aim of picking the collector’s attention. Is the contemporary art market ready for welcoming the emerging artists our schools are creating?
